Port of Miami Cruise Terminal

Port of Miami Cruise Terminal

Cruise passengers often have questions about transportation to the Port of Miami, so we’ve compiled the following information to help them safely navigate the transfer process between Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale /Hollywood International Airport and all around South Florida to the Cruise Terminal.

Miami Airport Transfers
Visitors to South Florida who need to transfer to the Port of Miami can make arrangements directly through the cruise line, join a group at the Miami Airport on the bright blue Super Shuttle for $14 per person or hop into a taxi outside baggage claim for a flat fee of $24. Clearly marked transport desks are manned by radio guides 24 hours a day so no reservations are required for the Super Shuttle or a cab. A complete directory of independent ground transportation companies is maintained by the Port of Miami and can be accessed through their website.

Driving to the Port
If you are driving to the terminal to board a cruise, long term parking facilities are located across from the individual cruise terminals and cost $20 a day. Drivers who intend to drop off cruisers but will not remain in the garage overnight can leave their auto in the terminal garages for just $7. A number of nearby hotels offer a Park-Sleep-Fly option so you can leave your car in the hotel lot for a fee and pick it up upon your return ( http://miami.parksleepfly.com/  ). Dollar, Thrifty, Hertz and Alamo rental car companies have agents located in Downtown Miami that offer free shuttle service to and from the ships so you can drive to the city, drop off the car and sail, sail away!

Taxi Service
Metered taxi service is available at the Port of Miami to expedite travel to nearby points of interest including the Bayside Marketplace (approximately $10), South Beach (approximately $20), Miami International Airport ($24) and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (approximately $70). Budget-conscious travelers can taxi to the Government Center to buy an Easy Ticket to board a northbound Metrorail commuter train to connect to Tri-Rail southbound to the Miami Airport Station or northbound to the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport Station and transfer to the shuttle service direct to the airport terminals.

Fort Lauderdale Airport Transfers
Cruise passengers who fly into Fort Lauderdale Airport have four options for ground transportation to the Port of Miami including sharing a ride via the 10 passenger GO Shuttle service for $21 per person, hiring a Go Shuttle private limo for $70 (up to 4 passengers) or taking a taxi directly to the ship for approximately $70 (metered fares may vary). No reservations are required - simply check in at the transportation podiums located outside baggage claim in the lower level of each terminal. The maximum wait time for a shared shuttle ride is 30 minutes and travel time to the Port is usually around 60 minutes depending upon traffic.

The Tri-Rail train service connects Fort Lauderdale Airport directly to Miami Airport but does NOT access the Port of Miami. Getting to the Port of Miami requires boarding an airport shuttle to the Tri-Rail train, a transfer to the Metrorail commuter train and a taxi from the Government Center Station to the Port of Miami terminals. To get to the Tri-Rail train from Fort Lauderdale airport, board a shuttle at the lower level of Terminal 1 and at shuttle bus stops located between Terminal 2 & 3 or between Terminal 3 & 4.

Port of Miami public bus service is available via the Seaport Connection bus route 243 picking up at the Port Terminals and dropping off at the Overtown Metrorail station. From this station the 95 Dade-Broward Express Bus stops at the Arena Metromover station, the Government Center Metrorail Station and the Downtown Bus Terminal.

Bon Voyage!
