Miami’s Golden boy, Red Carter has designed his latest collection to be wearable pieces of art by using fabric prints from contemporary Miami artist Carlos Betancourt. “Art is everywhere, anywhere, all the time,” says Carlos Betancourt . This new line of swimwear is scheduled to debut during ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH. The collection will be sold exclusively at BARNEYS stores to benefit The United Way. “Combining art and fashion never goes out of style” states Red Carter.

Red Carter holds the swimwear license for Jessica Simpson and produces private label products for retailers nationwide.  Red Carter lines are sold by leading retailers including Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Intermix, Macys, Victoria’s Secret and Everything But Water.  Red Carter designs have appeared in Vogue, Elle, Lucky, Marie Claire and Sports Illustrated.  The company also established and operates Salon9, its New York City based showroom which has quickly gained a reputation with buyers and editors for representing the industry’s leading swim and resort lifestyle brands.

Artist Carlos Betancourt’s artwork is part of public collections such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, The Miami Art Museum, and The Bass Museum in Miami Beach. Betancourt is co-founder of 801 Projects, an arts center that provides studio spaces for visual artists based in Miami.

The highly anticipated Red Carter/Carlos Betancourt collaboration will be unveiled at a launch party hosted by both Red Carter and Carlos Betancourt this evening at Barneys Co-op Miami Beach store, December 4, 2009 from 8PM to 10PM.
