Cocktails from the Living Room at the W South Beach

On a scorching September afternoon in South Beach, most of us are not particular about where we get our drink on - just as long as it’s tall, cool and plentiful. Chalk it up to human nature…

Christian Sanders  would like to change all that.

The Mad Mixologist from the Living Room Bar at the brand new W South Beach Hotel traveled all the way to Las Vegas last week to compete in an “Inspired Bartender Search” sponsored by the folks at Bombay Sapphire Gin. While thirsty locals already know about Sander’s considerable talents, the toughest teams in Vegas fell by the wayside when Sanders took top honors in the final round with his tart and tangy Garden Sour Hour pour.

If you live here in Miami Beach, stop by the bar this week and offer your congratulations to the luckiest boy at the bar. If not, set up your snifter and try this jackpot-winning blend:

1 1/2 parts Bombay Sapphire Gin

1/3 part Galliano liqueur

1/2 part fresh lemon juice

1/2 part Triple Sec

1 part celery juice

a pinch of dill paste

2 dashes orange bitters

Coat the rim of the glass with salt and cracked pepper.

Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into glass.

Garnish with a dill sprig.

The Living Room at the W South Beach hotel is located at 2201 Collins Avenue.
