The Urbanite Bistro invites guests to a public arts reception on Tuesday, October 6 from 7 – 9 pm. The restaurant, dedicated to supporting the local art community, doubles as a rotating gallery with artwork changing monthly. This month the space is host to provocative artwork by Latin American artists Gabriela Sanchez-Vegas and Rudolf Kohn. Guests will receive an Urbanite VIP card, redeemable for a complimentary specialty cocktail.
Venezuelan sculptor Gabriela Sanchez-Vegas presents Concrete Tears. Sanchez-Vegas uses metal inserts, such as keys, magnifiers, personal memorabilia and souvenirs to allow a “visual interaction” between the work and the spectator. Each tear is considered conceptual jewelry with symbols of feminine sentiments and emotions. For more information on Sanchez-Vegas, please visit www.gabrielasanchezvegas.com. Rudolf Kohn introduces his newest collection, City of Love, at The Urbanite Bistro. The large format paintings represent the theme that “eyes are the windows of the soul.” Each eye represents each soul on the planet, and together they are “unity, humanity and God.” For more information on Rudolf Kohn, please visit www.rudolfkohn.com.
