If you are staying in Miami Beach (and especially South Beach), you may want to consider doing your traveling via taxi instead of by rental car. The cost of parking on the Beach often times makes cab fare seem very attractive.
Once you claim your luggage at Miami International Airport’s Baggage Claim area, the taxi stand is only a few steps away out the front doors onto the street level where a Taxi Captain is waiting to assist you.

Sunny Isles Taxi
Taxi fares for non-flat rate destinations are determined by the taxi’s meter.
Wait time = 35 cent per minute / $21.00 per hour.
Airport/Seaport Flat Fare: $21.00 per trip from the Miami International Airport to the Seaport or from the Seaport to the Miami International Airport.
Service complaints can be made at the Consumer Services Department, Consumer Hotline 305-375-2460 or 305-375-3677 or filed on line at the Consumer Services Department web site at www.co.miami-dade.fl.us/csd.
There is no per passenger or baggage charge. The fare is the amount shown on the meter unless a flat rate applies. Flat rate taxi service applies to trips to and from Miami International Airport and the Seaport (Port of Miami), the Beaches, the Village of Key Biscayne and two zones close to the Airport (see the flat rate guide posted on the right rear passenger window). The meter starts when the taxi begins the trip toward the desired destination.
Except where flat rates are operational, fares are determined by the taximeters which are inspected and sealed at the Consumer Services Department’s Vehicle Inspection Station.
The metered rate is calculated at:
$2.50 for first 1/6 of a mile
$0.40 for each additional 1/6 mile
$0.40 per minute ($24 per hour) wait charge
Road tolls are in addition to the metered fare, and the passenger pays the lower Sunpass rate.
For trips originating at MIA or the Port of Miami a $2 surcharge will be added to the meter fare.
Tipping is optional but customary. The passenger is entitled to receive a receipt.
