Arkadia at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach

News from the haute Miami Beach club scene – Arkadia, the smaller sibling to the Fontainebleau’s mega-club LIV opened its doors just in time for a massive Halloween Party in 2010..

Following the overwhelming success of LIV, a smaller space was created out of the former 1960s game room at the Fontainebleau Hotel to create a poolside lounge with low ceilings, vertical streamers dividing the more intimate spaces and an impressive teal billiard table for those brave enough to flaunt their inner Minnesota Fats.

Arkadia is named for the video game and pinball lounge that once captivated resort guests. (For all you folks who have been Googling “Arcadia,” note the correct spelling) Designer Francois Frossard created a 300-person space with 25 tables, and hopes to make club-goers “lose their sense of time and inhibitions” when they party in this enchanting new venue. To remind guests of the Fontainebleau’s storied past, Frossard covered the walls leading to the restrooms with photos and memorabilia of some of the greatest icons of the 1950s and 60s, including Elvis, Sinatra, Sean Connery and of course, the hotel’s original owner, Ben Novack.

The club’s new diversions include a long and winding bar, a cozy dance area, a VIP lounge with period French furniture and an al fresco venue for pool parties facing the curtained cabanas and adults-only wading pool. Guests can shimmy into their favorite bikinis, splash through the warm, waist-deep waters and never spill a drop of champagne.

To make the transition from daytime fun to night-time excitement, Ultra Cabanas set on their own wood deck overlooking the Arkadia lounge pool are available for all-day rental from 9AM right up until 6PM when Arkadia opens its doors, and offers guests the ultimate in luxury as a warm-up spot to a night of fun.

Tuesday nights, the hotel will host poolside BBQs around 10pm then lead the party from the pool to the pool table for more late night fun and games. Saturdays will be open format while Sundays are house music, with the doors to the pool area opening at 6PM to kick-off the party.

Bar service includes upscale brands of beer like Chimay and custom cocktails designed by the staff mixologists incorporating fresh Florida fruit, cool mint and herbs of the aromatic variety. An international lineup of superstar DJs will pump up the volume including Cedric Gervais, Tiesto, Nervo and Paul Oakenfold.
